Getting Started with Ambient Scribe for iOS

Overview

Ambient Scribe for iOS brings AI-powered medical transcription to your iPhone. Record patient encounters, generate clinical notes, and seamlessly integrate with your workflow - all from your mobile device.

Requirements

  • iPhone running iOS 16.0 or later

  • Active Ambient Scribe account

  • Stable internet connection

  • Microphone access

Download the App

  1. Open the App Store on your iPhone

  2. Search for "Ambient Scribe"

  3. Tap Get to download

  4. Wait for installation to complete

Sign In to Your Account

Option 1: Email Sign-In

  1. Open Ambient Scribe

  2. Enter your email address

  3. Tap Continue

  4. Check your email for a verification code

  5. Enter the code to complete sign-in

Option 2: Sign In with Google

  1. Open Ambient Scribe

  2. Tap Continue with Google

  3. Select your Google account

  4. Authorize the connection

Option 3: Sign In with Microsoft

  1. Open Ambient Scribe

  2. Tap Continue with Microsoft

  3. Enter your Microsoft credentials

  4. Authorize the connection

Option 4: EHR Single Sign-On

If your organization uses EHR-based authentication:

  1. Launch Ambient Scribe from your EHR application

  2. Authentication happens automatically

  3. You'll be signed in with your EHR credentials

Initial Setup

Grant Microphone Access

When prompted, tap Allow to grant microphone access. This is required for recording patient encounters.

If you accidentally denied access:
1. Go to iPhone Settings
2. Scroll to Ambient Scribe
3. Toggle Microphone to On

Select Your Default Template

  1. Tap the Settings gear icon

  2. Navigate to Note Template

  3. Choose your preferred template format

  4. Templates include SOAP, H&P, Progress Note, and more

Set Your Language Preferences

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Set Encounter Language (language spoken during encounters)

  3. Set Note Language (language for generated notes)

Your First Recording

Starting an Encounter

  1. From the home screen, tap New Encounter

  2. Ensure you're in a quiet environment

  3. Tap the Record button

  4. Begin your patient conversation

During the Recording

  • Speak naturally - the AI handles different accents and speech patterns

  • You'll see live transcription as you speak

  • The red indicator shows recording is active

Pausing and Resuming

  • Tap Pause if you need to take a break

  • Tap Resume to continue recording

  • Recording time is tracked automatically

Ending the Encounter

  1. Tap Stop when the encounter is complete

  2. The app will process your recording

  3. Your note will be generated automatically

Viewing Your Notes

  1. Notes appear on the home screen after generation

  2. Tap any note to view the full content

  3. Notes are synced across all your devices

Troubleshooting

"Microphone access required"

  1. Open iPhone Settings

  2. Find Ambient Scribe

  3. Enable Microphone permission

Recording stops unexpectedly

  1. Check that Low Power Mode is disabled

  2. Ensure the app has background refresh enabled

  3. Keep the phone charged during long recordings

Notes not syncing

  1. Check your internet connection

  2. Pull down to refresh the notes list

  3. Sign out and sign back in if issues persist
