iOS Settings Guide

Overview

Configure Ambient Scribe on your iPhone to match your workflow. This guide covers all available settings on the iOS app.

Accessing Settings

  1. Open Ambient Scribe

  2. Tap the gear icon in the top corner

  3. Settings screen opens

Account Settings

Profile

View your account information:
- Name
- Email address
- Organization (if applicable)

Sign Out

  1. Scroll to bottom of Settings

  2. Tap Sign Out

  3. Confirm to sign out

  4. You'll need to sign in again to use the app

Recording Settings

Microphone

Select Input Source

If you have multiple audio inputs connected:

  1. Go to Settings > Microphone

  2. View available inputs

  3. Built-in microphone is default

  4. External mics appear when connected

Encounter Language

Set the language spoken during your encounters:

  1. Go to Settings > Encounter Language

  2. Select from available languages

  3. Default is English

  4. AI optimizes for selected language

Supported Languages:
- English (US, UK, Australian)
- Spanish
- French
- German
- And more...

Note Settings

Note Template

Set your default template:

  1. Go to Settings > Note Template

  2. Browse available templates

  3. Tap to select as default

  4. New encounters use this template

Template Categories:
- SOAP Notes
- H&P (History & Physical)
- Progress Notes
- Specialty-specific templates
- Organization templates (if available)

Note Language

Choose the language for generated notes:

  1. Go to Settings > Note Language

  2. Select your preferred language

  3. Notes generate in this language

Note: You can speak in one language and generate notes in another.

Note Format

Choose how notes are formatted:

  1. Go to Settings > Note Format

  2. Options include:
    - Paragraph format
    - Bulleted lists
    - Mixed format

EHR Settings (When Available)

EHR Connection Status

View your EHR integration status:

  • Connected: Active EHR integration

  • Not Connected: No EHR integration

  • Error: Connection issue (tap for details)

Pre-Chart

Enable automatic patient context:

  1. Go to Settings > EHR > Pre-Chart

  2. Toggle On/Off

  3. When enabled, patient demographics load automatically

Privacy & Security

Data Handling

View how your data is handled:

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy

  2. Review data policies

  3. Link to full privacy policy

Delete Account

To delete your account and all data:

  1. Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account

  2. Read the warning carefully

  3. Confirm deletion

  4. All data is permanently removed

Notification Settings

Push Notifications

Control what notifications you receive:

  1. Go to iPhone Settings > Ambient Scribe > Notifications

  2. Toggle notification types:
    - Note ready alerts
    - Sync status updates
    - Account notifications

Managing Notifications

To enable notifications:
1. Open iPhone Settings
2. Find Ambient Scribe
3. Tap Notifications
4. Toggle Allow Notifications On

To disable:
- Follow same steps, toggle Off

App Permissions

Microphone Permission

Required for recording encounters:

  1. iPhone Settings > Ambient Scribe

  2. Microphone toggle must be On

  3. App cannot record without this

Background App Refresh

Recommended for seamless experience:

  1. iPhone Settings > Ambient Scribe

  2. Background App Refresh > On

  3. Allows notes to sync in background

Cellular Data

Control cellular data usage:

  1. iPhone Settings > Ambient Scribe

  2. Cellular Data > On/Off

  3. When Off, app only works on WiFi

Display Settings

Theme

Choose app appearance (when available):

  1. Settings > Display

  2. Options:
    - Light mode
    - Dark mode
    - System (follows iPhone setting)

Text Size

The app respects iPhone accessibility settings:

  1. iPhone Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size

  2. Adjust as needed

  3. App text scales accordingly

Plan & Billing

View Your Plan

  1. Go to Settings > Plan

  2. View current plan details

  3. See usage statistics

Upgrade Plan

  1. Go to Settings > Plan

  2. Tap Upgrade

  3. Opens web view for plan selection

  4. Complete purchase through Stripe

Manage Billing

  1. Go to Settings > Plan > Manage Billing

  2. Opens billing portal

  3. Update payment method

  4. View invoices

App Information

Version Number

View app version:

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Scroll to bottom

  3. Version number displayed

Check for Updates

The App Store handles updates:

  1. Open App Store

  2. Tap your profile icon

  3. Scroll to see pending updates

  4. Update Ambient Scribe if available

Support

Quick access to help:

  1. Settings > Help & Support

  2. Opens this help center

  3. Or email support directly

Settings That Sync

These settings sync across all devices:

  • Note Template

  • Encounter Language

  • Note Language

  • Note Format

  • Pre-Chart preference

iOS-Only Settings

These are controlled through iPhone Settings:

  • Microphone permission

  • Notifications

  • Background App Refresh

  • Cellular Data

  • Location (not used by app)

Troubleshooting Settings

Settings Not Saving

  1. Check internet connection

  2. Force close and reopen app

  3. Sign out and sign back in

Template Not Appearing

  1. Pull down to refresh templates

  2. Check organization membership

  3. Contact admin if org templates missing

EHR Settings Missing

EHR settings only appear if:
- Your organization uses EHR integration
- You launched from EHR at least once
- Your account is configured for EHR access
