Getting Started with Ambient Scribe for Android

Overview
Ambient Scribe for Android brings AI-powered medical transcription to your Android device. Record patient encounters, generate clinical notes, and seamlessly integrate with your workflow.
Requirements
Android device running Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later
Active Ambient Scribe account
Stable internet connection
Microphone access
Download the App
Open the Google Play Store on your Android device
Search for "Ambient Scribe"
Tap Install
Wait for installation to complete
Sign In to Your Account
Option 1: Email Sign-In
Open Ambient Scribe
Enter your email address
Tap Continue
Check your email for a verification code
Enter the code to complete sign-in
Option 2: Sign In with Google
Open Ambient Scribe
Tap Continue with Google
Select your Google account
Authorize the connection
Option 3: Sign In with Microsoft
Open Ambient Scribe
Tap Continue with Microsoft
Enter your Microsoft credentials
Authorize the connection
Option 4: EHR Single Sign-On
If your organization uses EHR-based authentication:
Launch Ambient Scribe from your EHR application
Authentication happens automatically
You'll be signed in with your EHR credentials
Initial Setup
Grant Permissions
When prompted, allow these permissions:
Microphone Access (Required)
- Tap Allow when prompted
- Required for recording encounters
Notifications (Recommended)
- Allows alerts when notes are ready
- Can be changed later in settings
Select Your Default Template
Tap the Settings gear icon
Navigate to Note Template
Choose your preferred template format
Templates include SOAP, H&P, Progress Note, and more
Set Your Language Preferences
Go to Settings
Set Encounter Language (language spoken during encounters)
Set Note Language (language for generated notes)
Your First Recording
Starting an Encounter
From the home screen, tap New Encounter
Ensure you're in a quiet environment
Tap the Record button
Begin your patient conversation
During the Recording
Speak naturally - the AI handles different accents and speech patterns
You'll see live transcription as you speak
The red indicator shows recording is active
A notification appears when recording in background
Pausing and Resuming
Tap Pause if you need to take a break
Tap Resume to continue recording
Recording time is tracked automatically
Ending the Encounter
Tap Stop when the encounter is complete
The app will process your recording
Your note will be generated automatically
Viewing Your Notes
Notes appear on the home screen after generation
Tap any note to view the full content
Notes are synced across all your devices

Foreground Service: Recording shows in notification bar
Background Recording: Continue recording while using other apps
Widget Support: Quick access from home screen (select devices)
Share Intent: Share notes to any Android app
Synced with Web and iOS
Your Android app syncs with other platforms:
- Notes created on any device appear everywhere
- Settings sync across platforms
- Templates are available on all devices
Battery Optimization
Android may limit background apps. For best performance:
Disable Battery Optimization
Go to Android Settings > Apps > Ambient Scribe
Tap Battery
Select Unrestricted or Don't optimize
Manufacturer-Specific Settings
Some manufacturers have additional battery settings:
Samsung:
- Settings > Device care > Battery > Background usage limits
- Add Ambient Scribe to "Never sleeping apps"
Xiaomi/Redmi:
- Settings > Battery > App battery saver
- Set Ambient Scribe to "No restrictions"
Huawei:
- Settings > Battery > App launch
- Set Ambient Scribe to "Manage manually"
- Enable all toggles
OnePlus:
- Settings > Battery > Battery optimization
- Set Ambient Scribe to "Don't optimize"
Troubleshooting First Steps
Recording Won't Start
Check microphone permission in Settings
Close and reopen the app
Restart your device
Notes Not Syncing
Check your internet connection
Pull down to refresh the notes list
Sign out and sign back in
App Running Slowly
Clear app cache (Settings > Apps > Ambient Scribe > Clear Cache)
Ensure sufficient storage space
Update to latest app version
