Overview
Configure Ambient Scribe on your Android device to match your workflow. This guide covers all available settings in the Android app.
Accessing Settings
Open Ambient Scribe
Tap the gear icon in the top corner
Settings screen opens
Account Settings
Profile
View your account information:
- Name
- Email address
- Organization (if applicable)
Sign Out
Scroll to bottom of Settings
Tap Sign Out
Confirm to sign out
You'll need to sign in again to use the app
Recording Settings
Microphone
Select Input Source
If you have multiple audio inputs:
Go to Settings > Microphone
View available inputs
Default is device microphone
External mics appear when connected
Encounter Language
Set the language spoken during your encounters:
Go to Settings > Encounter Language
Select from available languages
Default is English
AI optimizes for selected language
Supported Languages:
- English (US, UK, Australian)
- Spanish
- French
- German
- And more...
Note Settings
Note Template
Set your default template:
Go to Settings > Note Template
Browse available templates
Tap to select as default
New encounters use this template
Template Categories:
- SOAP Notes
- H&P (History & Physical)
- Progress Notes
- Specialty-specific templates
- Organization templates (if available)
Note Language
Choose the language for generated notes:
Go to Settings > Note Language
Select your preferred language
Notes generate in this language
Note: You can speak in one language and generate notes in another.
Note Format
Choose how notes are formatted:
Go to Settings > Note Format
Options include:
- Paragraph format
- Bulleted lists
- Mixed format
EHR Settings (When Available)
EHR Connection Status
View your EHR integration status:
Connected: Active EHR integration
Not Connected: No EHR integration
Error: Connection issue (tap for details)
Pre-Chart
Enable automatic patient context:
Go to Settings > EHR > Pre-Chart
Toggle On/Off
When enabled, patient demographics load automatically
Privacy & Security
Data Handling
View how your data is handled:
Go to Settings > Privacy
Review data policies
Link to full privacy policy
Delete Account
To delete your account and all data:
Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account
Read the warning carefully
Confirm deletion
All data is permanently removed
Notification Settings
In-App Settings
Go to Settings > Notifications
Toggle notification types:
- Note ready alerts
- Sync status updates
- Account notifications
System Notification Settings
For more control:
Go to Android Settings > Apps > Ambient Scribe > Notifications
Configure notification channels:
- Recording notifications (required for recording)
- Note completion alerts
- General notifications
App Permissions
Required Permissions
Microphone (Required)
- Must be granted for recording
- Android Settings > Apps > Ambient Scribe > Permissions > Microphone
Notifications (Recommended)
- Required for recording service
- Enables note-ready alerts
Optional Permissions
Storage (If offered)
- For saving exported PDFs
- Not required for basic use

Find Ambient Scribe
Tap Permissions
Review and adjust as needed
Battery Settings
Critical for Recording
Android may kill background apps. Configure for reliability:
Disable Battery Optimization
Android Settings > Apps > Ambient Scribe
Tap Battery
Select Unrestricted or Don't optimize
Manufacturer-Specific Settings
Samsung:
- Settings > Device care > Battery
- App power management > Never sleeping apps
- Add Ambient Scribe
Xiaomi/Redmi:
- Settings > Battery > App battery saver
- Find Ambient Scribe > No restrictions
Huawei:
- Settings > Battery > App launch
- Ambient Scribe > Manage manually > Enable all
OnePlus:
- Settings > Battery > Battery optimization
- Ambient Scribe > Don't optimize
Google Pixel:
- Settings > Apps > Ambient Scribe > Battery
- Unrestricted
Display Settings
Theme
Choose app appearance:
Settings > Display
Options:
- Light mode
- Dark mode
- System (follows Android setting)
Text Size
The app respects Android accessibility settings:
Android Settings > Display > Font size
Adjust as needed
App text scales accordingly
Plan & Billing
View Your Plan
Go to Settings > Plan
View current plan details
See usage statistics
Upgrade Plan
Go to Settings > Plan
Tap Upgrade
Opens browser for plan selection
Complete purchase through Stripe
Manage Billing
Go to Settings > Plan > Manage Billing
Opens billing portal
Update payment method
View invoices
Data & Storage
Clear Cache
If app is behaving strangely:
Android Settings > Apps > Ambient Scribe
Tap Storage
Tap Clear Cache
Does not delete notes or settings
Clear Data (Caution)
This signs you out and resets the app:
Android Settings > Apps > Ambient Scribe
Tap Storage
Tap Clear Data
You'll need to sign in again
App Information
Version Number
View app version:
Go to Settings
Scroll to bottom
Version number displayed
Check for Updates
Open Google Play Store
Tap your profile icon
Tap "Manage apps & device"
See pending updates
Update Ambient Scribe if available
Or:
1. Search for Ambient Scribe in Play Store
2. If update available, tap Update

EHR Settings Missing
EHR settings only appear if:
- Your organization uses EHR integration
- You launched from EHR at least once
- Your account is configured for EHR access
Battery Optimization Keeps Re-enabling
Some devices reset battery settings:
1. Check after system updates
2. Re-disable optimization if needed
3. Some manufacturer apps may reset it
