Ambient Scribe requires access to your device's microphone to listen to the patient encounter. The application only listens when it needs to. When you're not in an encounter or configuring your microphone, the microphone is not in use in order to guarantee your privacy.

This guide shows you how to set up your microphone and resolve common issues.

Web browser

When accessing Ambient Scribe through your web browser, you browser requires your permission to listen to the encounter. When you launch Ambient Scribe for the first time, you'll see a prompt asking for access. Select Allow on every visit to provide Ambient Scribe access.

If access is blocked, you'll see recovery steps to help get you back on track. Follow those steps to grant access.

iOS & Android apps

When accessing Ambient Scribe through a mobile app, the app requires your permission to listen to the encounter. When you tap the red button to begin your first encounter, you will be prompted for access. Tap Allow to provide access.

If your app does not have access, the application will alert you.

  • Tap Allow Mic Access:

  • Then provide access in your System settings:

Windows and Mac

Windows

Ambient Scribe has access to the microphone by default, so no further action is required.

Mac

When you begin your first encounter, you're presented with a pop-up which requests microphone access. Click OK to allow access.

If you're starting a Virtual encounter, you will also need to provide Screen & System Audio Recording access. Click Open System Settings, then find Ambient Scribe in your list of applications and enable access. You will need to select Quit & Reopen for the setting to apply.

If Screen & System Audio Recording access is not enabled, you'll see this message, which will guide you through setting up access:
