If you’ve finished an encounter but need to provide additional context—either due to a subsequent encounter with the same patient or adding a dictation—you can resume any completed encounter.

In the encounter detail view, you'll find an option to resume your encounter:

When you end the resumed encounter, all previous transcripts along with the newly added content will be combined to generate an updated note.

Use cases for resuming an encounter include:

  • Adding a dictation to provide extra context

  • Including lab or imaging results

  • Continuing a conversation with the patient
