Once you've created your account, you're ready to start creating your first note.

Allow Ambient Scribe to use your microphone

Ambient Scribe uses your computer's microphone to listen to the conversation. When prompted by your browser, select the “Allow” option to ensure your microphone is available. On Chrome or Edge, the prompt will look like this:

Confirm your microphone is working

Ensure your computer has a microphone—built-in or external—connected. Use the Quick Settings to select and verify your microphone through the visual audio meter that displays sound levels.

Microphone settings can also be adjusted anytime via the Settings menu, found in the upper right-hand corner of the application.

If you have any issues, see our troubleshooting guide.

Begin your encounter

Click Begin encounter to start listening to the patient encounter. The conversation is transcribed in real-time. Any typos will be corrected in the final transcript.

Also, you can name your note at any time.

Pause your encounter

You can pause your encounter at any point in time by pressing Pause. When paused, Ambient Scribe turns yellow to indicate that it's no longer recording. To resume your encounter, press Resume .

End your encounter

Click End encounter to stop capturing the conversation. You'll be prompted to confirm if you're ready to create a note. At this point, you can also select a template for your note. Set your default note template anytime from the Settings menu.

Next, the note will then start to generate, and you'll soon see the text appear as the note is written.

Review and edit your note

Once your note is created, you can review your note. You'll see three sections:

  • Note: contains the generated note

  • Patient instructions: contains instructions written in appropriate language for the patient

  • Transcript: contains the raw transcript of the conversation

The text in the Note and Patient instructions tabs can be edited and saved. To edit, just click in to the text area and start typing. Once your finished, click the Save icon.

Send to EHR or Copy the note text

If Ambient Scribe is integrated with your EHR, click Send to EHR, which will automatically send the Note text to your EHR. The note becomes archived and only editable in the EHR after this point.

If Ambient Scribe is not integrated with your EHR, click Copy to copy the note text, which you can paste into your EHR.
